What makes EIZO a great Graphics Monitor?

While your camera can capture trillions of colours, most computer monitors can only display around 16 million of these for you.

However, the EIZO ColorEdge Graphics Monitor is custom built for image editing and on-screen image proofing. A wide gamut and a palette of over 278 trillion colours reveal natural tones and subtle details that would otherwise be hidden from view.

ColorEdge Monitors are built to faithfully reflect your editing changes and display your files as they truly are.

Here are 7 ways EIZO achieves this:

1. Purpose-built ASIC

To achieve as accurate display of colour as possible, EIZO has developed its own application specific integrated circuit (ASIC). With this ASIC, the gamma level of each monitor is adjusted at the factory by measuring the R, G, and B gamma values from 0 – 255, and using the 16-bit LUT (palette of 65,281 tones) to select the 256 most appropriate tones to achieve the desired value.

This ensures tones are displayed as intended without colour banding making them ideal for photography and retouching where colour management is critical. CX series and select CS series monitors have Self Correction sensors which can be scheduled to automatically readjust the screens and save you the time of having to do it yourself.

2. 3D LUT for Accurate Colour Display

A 3D LUT is included with the CG series which adjusts colours individually on an RGB cubic table. This improves the monitor’s additive colour mixture (combination of RGB), which is a key factor in it’s ability to display grey tones.

3. Colour Gamuts Reproduced on Screen

The CG and CX series reproduce almost the entire Adobe RGB color space. The vibrant blue skies and lush green forests seen in photos will be displayed on screen in a way not possible on monitors with an sRGB color space.

The wide color gamut also ensures that the monitors reproduce almost the entire ISO-coated and US web-coated CMYK color spaces used in printing.

4. Brightness and Colour Uniformity with DUE

Fluctuations in brightness and chromaticity (colour) on different parts of the screen are a common trait of LCD monitors. One section of the screen might look warm and bright while another section might look cooler or darker. How to trust which part of the screen is correct?

To counteract this, ColorEdge monitors are set with EIZO’s patented Digital Uniformity Equalizer (DUE) technology to ensure a Delta-E difference of 3* or less across the screen when they leave the factory. And now DUE also counterbalances the influences that a fluctuating ambient temperature may have on colour temperature and brightness, to ensure stable image display at all times.
*Delta-E difference applicable to CG and CX series only.

5. 4K Resolution

The ColorEdge 4K series offers both DCI 4K standard (4096 × 2160) and 4K UHD (3840 × 2160) models.

Whether you are creating, editing, or checking your work, the pixel density of these monitors gives you the high performance needed for expressing your creativity in extreme detail.

6. Abundant Screen Space for Your Digital Canvas

The CG247X, CG2420, and CS2420 display two A4 pages at actual size plus tool palettes on their 24.1-inch screen. The CG277, CG2730 and CS2730 give you even more room with their spacious 27-inch screen and 2560 x 1440 resolution.

7. 5 Year Warranty

A 5-year manufacturer’s warranty ensures longevity and brings peace of mind. In addition, the backlight brightness is warranted for three years at a brightness of up to 100 cd/m2 or more depending on the model with the usage time at a maximum of 10,000 hours. (See individual product specifications for further details on brightness warranty for our ColorEdge CG models.)
